The project goal is the design of the novel original methods for the energy efficient heterogeneous (HetNet) topologies to be considered in 5G+ wireless communication standard. 5G HetNets will be characterised by the presence of both, traditional macro cell base stations as well as the small cells (emitting power up to 6W). However, recent discussions propose the new concept of 5G+ networks where the traditional stationary base-stations are complemented with the existence of mobile flying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The optimisation of such complex dynamic system using the traditional optimisation schemes is computationally demanding and thus, we believe that appropriate heuristics based on machine learning (or bioinspired algorithms) could be used with advantage. We expect that new original methods designed throughout the project frame show higher robustness against the externalities (e.g. multi path propagation, end-user mobility) and also higher scalability in contrast with the existing solutions.
